Frequently Asked Questions Live Online Tuition A1 – C2
Everything you may want to know about my 1:1 Live Online German Tuition!
How does my online German tuition work?
All lessons take place live online and are tailored to your individual goals and German proficiency level, from A1 to C2.
What qualifications does my German tutor hold?
I hold a recognised UK teaching qualification, the PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and have many years of teaching experience. In addition, I am a qualified commercial translator specialising in German and English and hold an LL.B. (Hons), First Class, from Birkbeck College/University of London.
Which areas are covered by your tuition?
My German tuition supports you with your daily activities, at university, at work or during your free time or on holiday.
Can I just focus on conversation?
Absolutely! Alongside my regular German lessons which focus on grammar and vocabulary I also offer conversation classes for all levels from A1 to C2. These sessions are all about helping you speak German more confidently and naturally in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Can you support me in improving my pronunciation?
Certainly! I offer a specialised course in “Pronunciation training, accent reduction & intonation coaching” for all levels from A1 to C2. Together, we’ll work on improving your pronunciation and intonation so you can speak German more clearly, naturally and confidently.
What German course levels do you offer?
My German tuition covers all proficiency levels, from complete beginners at A1 to advanced, highly proficient learners at C2.
Is my German good enough?
Of course! I offer personalised German lessons for all proficiency levels, from A1 to C2. Whether you’re a complete beginner taking your first steps in German or an advanced learner looking to refine specific skills, expand your vocabulary, or improve your pronunciation, I tailor every lesson to your individual needs, goals, learning pace and personal interests to help you make meaningful progress and achieve your full potential.
How many lessons per week are best?
You can decide how many lessons you’d like to schedule each week, whether that’s one, two, three, or even four sessions. It all depends on how much time you can realistically dedicate to learning German alongside your everyday commitments as well as how quickly you’d like to reach your next milestone or learning goal.
As a general rule, I recommend at least two lessons per week to help you make steady progress, build confidence and get the most out of your learning experience.
What is the teaching language?
German is the main language we’ll use in our lessons. However, I’m bilingual in German and English, so if you ever get stuck on a tricky grammar point or would like me to explain something in English that’s absolutely fine! I’m always happy to help make things clearer and ensure you feel comfortable and confident throughout your learning journey.
How much time should I set aside for homework?
We’ll discuss what works best for you and how much time you can comfortably fit into your schedule. As a general guideline, I recommend setting aside around 15–30 minutes for homework.
(But if you want more homework than that I am happy to oblige!)
Would you recommend independent revision in addition to homework?
Even just 10–15* additional minutes a day can make a real difference! I recommend a little practice every day rather than three hours once a week. Consistency is key to making steady progress & regular revision helps you retain and enforce what you’ve already learned.
*obviously if your schedule allows & you have more time available far be it from me to stop you!
What level of German is required for the module “Pronunciation training, accent reduction & intonation coaching”?
This module is suitable for all German levels from A1 to C2 & will be individually tailored to your needs.
Is it possible to combine e.g. two pronunciation lessons with two conversation lessons per month?
No problem! During the 50 minute free Intro Session we look at what you want to achieve and how to best get you there. We’ll then tailor your monthly package accordingly.
On what days can I take lessons?
I teach seven days a week as I know how important it is to find a lesson time that fits your schedule and allows you to learn in a relaxed & productive way.
Whenever possible I plan time off such as holidays or other commitments, several months in advance so you can plan your lessons with confidence & enjoy a consistent learning routine.
I’ in a different time zone?
No problem! I teach students across different time zones and will always do my best to find a lesson time that works for you. We’ll discuss your schedule and find a suitable time during our free introductory session.
